As you see societies that are based on the same idea are always share differences and similarities between all of them. How the people of these societies deal with their situations and what they do during the day shows the differences in them. In Anthem, you see a society that the government has total control over and the people have no control over anything that happens and they are on a set schedule and they are just seen as workers and nobody is different. While in Divergent people are allowed to choose their future and they have some say in life and they aren’t just seen as workers they actually have a meaning where they come from. “Jealousy is always born with love, but does not always die with it” (Rochefoucauld). Love can be argued to be the one of the main causes of jealousy. In The Crucible, the main conflict of the story was based on envy of Elizabeth`s relationship with John Proctor. Abigail Williams’s adjective in the story was to exclude Elizabeth so she could be with John. The Salem witch hunt was the solution for Abigail plan to execute Elizabeth.

The Crucible by Arthur Miller is a play that shows many recurring themes. One of the most prominent themes is that jealousy is dangerous. The Bible talks about condemning witchcraft, so when a group of kids in the town of Salem, Massachusetts, is caught dancing in the forest with the devil, the community starts to panic. Miller shows how innocent puritans become bitter over time and accuse each other of witchcraft. The accused eventually get put on trial and are given the ultimatum, confess to dealing with the devil, or be publicly hanged.

Trials were beginning to take place in Salem over the idea of people practicing witchcraft. During this time people could accuse anyone without any hard evidence. With that being allowed, it caused a tremendous amount of problems and also resulted in the death of many innocent people.

Dystopian settings are usually more electronic than usual because it is occurring in real life, which gives ideas to the creators. In the world that Divergent is set in, they are too, shut from the outside world. This pattern also occurs in Hunger Games. They have electric fences to prevent anyone from exiting their district.
Any decision in life all comes down to the choices made and the path favored, if chosen a different path than expected, it will transform their life. The choice chosen will define their life and it will tell them who they truly are. Divergent is a novel about a society split up into five factions, each faction is dedicated to a different virtue. Each citizen may choose between the faction their family belongs to or change it up, for the rest of their life. Through the novel Divergent, Veronica Roth explores the theme of survival in a dystopian society using the character Tris’ unique talents and intelligence to enable her to have to fight to survive and keep her identity a secret which causes everyone to believe that she can not be trusted and is dangerous.
Oppression has always been prevalent throughout history, and as a response to this, the exploited often revolt, in turn, causing inciteful change. However, when the revolution only seeks revenge, it fosters more violence and creates a more oppressed society. The French Revolution while successful in the sense that it overthrew the government, has one dangerous aspect in common with oppression: violence. This revolution is depicted in A Tale of Two Cities by Dickens, where the persecuted peasants of France start a rebellion to try and achieve revenge government. However, by using violence as the primary method to abolish the government and boasting about the dominance of the revolution through the Carmagnole, the revolutionaries discredit themselves.
What is violence? Violence is, as described by Google,”behavior involving physical force intended to hurt, damage, or kill someone or something. Strength of emotion or an unpleasant or destructive natural force. And the unlawful exercise of physical force or intimidation by the exhibition of such force.” Both 1984 by George Orwell, and Brave New World by Aldous Huxley have violence threaded throughout each novel.
Divergent includes all aspects of a dystopian novel. Some of these are the illusion of a utopia, constant surveillance, and fear of the outside world.
