Domestic violence is the leading source of injury to women between the ages of 15 and 44 in the United States, more than car accidents, muggings, and rape combined. A woman is more likely to be assaulted, injured, raped, or killed by a male partner than by any other type of assailant. Although, in recent times men also are abused by their female partner, the majority of cases still affect women entirely. Domestic Violence is often referred to as a pattern of offensive behaviour in any relationship that is used by one partner to gain or maintain power and control over another intimate partner. It is considered that she may have made a massive oversight in the decision she made to return home. Nevertheless, Dorothy knew why she was doing, what she was doing. It was all in hope that the danger would be imposed on her, and not on her daughters. William eventually violated the restraining order and he hid in the garage until Dorothy came home. William grabbed her and demanded that she calm down. Kaitlyn was home at that time and she ran downstairs to observe her father holding her mother captive. Kaitlyn stated that she stayed with her parents to ensure that nothing serious occurred. William ultimately left the house and the next day Dorothy went to the Police Station and made a report. The officer who took the request issued a warrant for his arrest. William turned himself in and it was astonishing what the outcome was. His previous record showed only a few traffic violations and bad checks. He had a steady job as a cable installer and coached a local youth sports team (Snyder, 2013). Therefore, the judge released him on five hundred dollars’ bail. This is utterly horrendous; and this is said because of the nature of the offense. William violated the restraining order and found himself to Dorothy’s home and held her confined. As long as there is suspicion and facts of abuse in the home, every possible solution must be taken into consideration. The effects of domestic violence on our society are obviously enormous, but are impossible to measure. Our entire nation suffers. You can see the effects at bus stations, fast-food restaurants, and schools. You can see it on television and in jails.
