Virgin Mary-the mother of Jesus was an ordinary Jewish girl from a city called Nazareth. She’s the daughter of Saint Joachim and Saint Anne. Her original Arabic name is Mariam or Maryam. The English name is Mary. Mary was a righteous person who was favored by God. Although Mary was not mentioned a lot in the Gospel, she was given a lot of attention in the Quran, and had a whole verse named after her. Virgin Mary was a normal human being who made mistakes, and needed a savior, and Jesus was her savior. Once God sent the angel Gabriel to a city called Nazareth to tell Virgin Mary that she will be the mother of Jesus. Mary was afraid by the appearance of the angel and what he told her, because she was a virgin, so it was impossible for her to conceive. But the angel Gabriel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And now, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you will name him Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give to him the throne of his ancestor David. He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end”. (The Gospel of Luke1762). The two books agree that the birth of Jesus was a miracle, because Mary was still a virgin when Jesus was born. Moreover, the Gospel and the Quran both agree that Mary was an ordinary human being and she is not considered divine. So, we can’t worship her because worshiping is restricted to God only.
