Concepts of Virginity Young women today feel the freedom to spend their sex lives in their own rules and terms. They had become equal players; a sexual revolution has ignited Eve to overpower Adam. The young women of this generation share a strong role for sexual entitlement and individuality thus giving them the opportunity to break the rules and switch the roles (Her Way: Young Women Remake the Sexual Revolution, 2000). One of the stigmas that are being hit by a wrecking ball is virginity as the Holy Grail for women. As Eve gains traditional male rights and powers for challenging masculine-defined scripts, the foundation of this concept is continuously being shaken. Given that fact that eighty percent of self-proclaimed Christians practice pre-marital sex, this concept of having your virginity back is a great fall back for the believers who have crossed the lines of temptation (Virginity Lost, Experienced Gained, 2014). On the contrary, feminists have been agitating for new sexual freedoms. They believe that virginity is hetero-normative and that it disrespects rape victims; it objectifies women and reduces how men will perceive them sexually. They are persistent about virginity as being a mere state of mind; that is, a woman can still think that she is a virgin even though she have had sexual experiences in the past if she wants to.
