Virtue Ethics Paper

There are two ethical issues in the case, the first ethical issue is that my car manufacturer is struggling with the idea to recall a model, and submit a report that could cost the company money or pretend that I didn’t know about the defect which could cause deadly accidents. The second issue is that before I could decide someone has release the products without any changes, and without certification, now I must make the decision should I look further into this event or leave it alone. I think that these are the ethical issues because I would not want lose more money for my company, but at the same time I would not want to cause deadly accidents by not reporting it and recalling it. Virtue ethics is defined that basely our character is our moral agent and not the rules or consequences or our actions. I think a utilitarian ethicist would advise the right thing to do is to pretend that I didn’t know about defect, and do not look further into the event because if I recalled the model it would cause my company to lose money then the employees and my bosses would not be happy. However, if I don’t recall it then my company would happy because we are not losing money. I think a virtue ethicist would advise me to do what I feel is right no matter what the consequences or actions is toward me, my company, or anyone else who is involve. Therefore, if I feel like the right to do is recall the model, and look further into who release the product or if I feel like the right to do is pretend not to know about the defects then I should do either of those options. I think the strength of the utilitarian ethicist advise is that the company will not lose money if I pretend to not know of the defect, not to look further into it, and keep the bosses, and employees of the company happy. I think the weakness of the utilitarian ethicist advise is that the company could get sued if someone who used the model get hurt, or hurt someone else while driving then that could cause the company to lose money probably more than it would be to just recalled the product. I think the strength of the virtue ethicist advise is that I would be happy with my decision regardless of the consequences because I made the decision that I was I comfortable with, and I was not force to make the decision from someone else. I think the weakness of the virtue ethicist advise is that regardless of what my decision is, the consequence good or bad will be on my conscious, and I will have to live with
