From being a well know poet and literature professor, Vivien Bearing drastically experienced the power of cancer. She was diagnosed with Stage IV Metastatic Ovarian Cancer. During those time, treatment for cancer was still on progress. Vivien’s doctor suggested to her if she would like to accept and undergo research trial regarding the treatment of her illness. During the peak of the trial, Vivien was treated like a “guinea pig”, as stated by her. Throughout the movie, Vivien engages in flashbacks and reminisces her most memorable moments in the past. She too had her monologue with the viewers, as if she was recording the whole treatment and sharing it with her audience. She had her deepest realization from while she as on the hospital alone. From being a ruthless professor she then realized that all what she did could and have a “payback”. She suffered and fought the side effects of the treatment alone. She did her best, never complain about how inappropriate and rude her doctors were. She did her part on the trial, she did not terminate with the research procedure, but indeed help them furtherly improve their research. As well as her doctors and the research did everything to make her better, but no one knows what really is meant for you, few days after she was visited by her favorite professor, Vivien passed away. When I was watching the movie, it is so uncomfortable to watch the first 30 minutes. There are lots of ethical dilemma presented in the movie which in reality
