When rapid industrialization changed the lives of Russian citizens for the worse, many revolutionary groups rose up. Following the beliefs of Karl Marx, two groups emerged. They both believed that the proletariat deserved to be the respectful rulers of the country. Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov was the leader of the Bolsheviks, one of the two groups created as a result of the views of Karl Marx. Lenin was an excellent leader as proven by his effective and shrewd leadership style. Additionally, he was a very patient and calculating man. To maintain his position, to please the masses and to restore Russia’s economy to its original state, Lenin distributed farmland among the peasants and gave ownership of factories to the working class. Moreover, he discarded his goal for a state-controlled economy for the current time and resorted to promoting NEP to help those financially challenged, such as peasants. This was an example of self-sacrifice from Lenin’s side. While Vladimir seemed very benevolent, he, however, had a leadership style in which he would use force and violent methods to ensure his safety and the success of his goals. Lenin would pressure his fellow comrades into agreeing with him. His tough-headed leadership and methods prompted reliance on dictatorial ways. As an example, Lenin ordered to execute many Russians including the Cheka, as he believed that they stood in his way. Furthermore, he used the same sort of methods to protect his standing from the Tsarists.
