Most people make the assumption that a community is made up of people who live near them when really it could be made up of people from all over the world. The word “community” can mean many things to different people and everyone has their own opinion on what it means to them. To me community means a group of people who all share the same interest, likes, and who are willing to come together and help one another in times of need. That is why I strongly believe that even if you are on the opposite sides of the world from one another you could still come together and be apart of a strong healthy community. It was an acknowledgment that I was there and a simple respect for an individual regardless of how well you know them.”(Student 5). She goes into detail explaining how she use to think her boyfriend was silly for asking, “How you doing?” to everyone he passed by in his community until he explained why he does it and why he finds it so important. Her boyfriend stated, “At my previous home I never took the time to speak to anyone. Then one day my house was broken into and the same neighbors that I would just ignore were the same folks that I needed to go to for information.” (Student 1). Which I believe really made her think more on the subject and how communication is pretty important even if you barely know the person because her neighbor is actually who saved her life because of simple communication and the caring question of “How you
