What is your assessment of the new process for managing priorities at Volkswagen of America? Are the criticisms justified? Is it an improvement over the old process? The new process for managing priorities of prioritizing IT projects at Volkswagen is a very efficient way that make sure those projects that are critical to business strategy meet their financial goals. However, the method of dropping entire goal portfolios simply because its importance is the lowest of all the methods in the list could be seen as a defect in the system, and one that could be harmful to business integration as time goes on. According to the case, IT governance is the effort to design an integrated method, solving broad topic, for instance: strategic control and values alignment. I can see the strategy of this new process is to connect business goals with the IT projects. The problem of Volkswagen is the IT department does not fit the whole company. If the IT department running by itself, it will becomes a problem which is the physical separation between the owners of a company and its managers.
