Recommended: Personal statement for a volunteer

I would consider my most significant contribution as a volunteer to be as a counsellor-in-training at Earl Bales Community Day Camp. Before becoming a counsellor, I completed a volunteer training program in July 2013, which I found to be an extremely personally rewarding position. During this program, I worked with children between the ages of three and eleven, coming up with creative and entertaining programming, while helping each camper on an individual basis. This camp is a community camp and is advertised solely by word-of-mouth. A volunteer experience of mine that comes to mind is one that is probably my most favorite volunteer experience yet. It is one that I get to do at my very own school called DUCK Week (Doing Unselfish Charities for Kids), which is a week long event that I have been a part of since I joined Piedmont Schools as a second grader. What makes this charity unique is that it focuses only on a member or a few members in our very own community, which is why we are able to be so successful with it. My favorite act of service that I have ever done was through the school’s project based learning. I had heard that the NWC Men’s Basketball Team was building a house a Haitian family who’s house had collapsed with all their belongings.
