SFLIG Volunteer and Internship program is an initiative develop to help achieve the organization goal of helping to improve the lives of children especially girls from orphanage homes, broken homes and also give support to single mothers. We aim to use this help to improve the lives of people from difficult background through the support of school enrolment, helping to provide housing, medical care and start-up capital for single mothers to help alleviate poverty and help community growth.

We are dedicated to providing opportunities for volunteering to occur in our organisation for two reasons. Firstly, it allows our organisation to be injected with the skills, knowledge and passion of people who are committed to making a change in this world. And secondly, we believe that volunteering can be a journey of self-discovery – a journey where more often than not, the volunteer receives more than what they give.
SFLIG offers volunteer experiences in a number of different categories. These include teaching, medical, working with children and creative art centres. Any one of these categories provides the volunteer with countless opportunities to see first-hand the challenges that exist for the less privileged in Ghana and to, more importantly, have a positive impact on the lives of those they meet. …show more content…

The Ghana Education Service have recently included arts as part of the curriculum at the basic schools to build the creativity of pupil before they get to the Junior High school and since is a new to our education system, there is a lack of creative art teacher and there is the desperate need for volunteers to help staff teach the subject.
Volunteers will assist children to develop their cognitive abilities through creative methods using constructive materials, paints, clay and drawing. They will also help to keep the classroom clean, teach basic English and report on daily activities to local teachers. In addition to creative arts lessons, volunteers can spend time assisting the teachers in other subjects.
This is a great program for creative volunteers as they will have the opportunity to design and implement recreational and educational activities for the children. We encourage volunteers to use their skills and interests to develop fun things for the children to do such as music and dance, arts and crafts, etc.
Though there is a curriculum to follow, volunteers are allow to also teach any creative subject or activity that will be helpful that they
