I have had the pleasure of volunteering at the BMES expo on October 7th and 9th, 2015 for University of South Florida (booth #922-924) at Tampa Conventional Centre, Tampa, Florida. I wanted to volunteer because I was keen to find out about the research people are conducting in the market and other universities and to talk to aspiring students to inspire them to do research in the Biomedical engineering field. On the first day we just had to set up the booth and to learn how the thing were supposed to be kept and how to make other people feel welcoming, but on the 9th I got to talk to many other people about the research that our professors are performing at the university and got to know about their expectations and about some other people about the research they are doing and what they expect from our university. …show more content…
It was made by a company called SynDaver, the company is started by one of the USF alumni. The body was completely made from synthetic materials, which by the looks of it looked like a real body, but the most amazing part was that when you touch it I felt like it was a cadaver of a real human. And the way I was amazed to see the Synthetic cadaver many people were also amazed to see it and out of which some were quite curious to touch it. The Company people gave some instruction about how to take care of it, as the body was made of 70% water, after sometime the flesh use to look dry, so we had to maintain humidity by spraying water on the body every hour or so. They also told us that we can touch it and let other people touch it, but we had to make sure that whoever wanted to do so should use hand sanitizer as the body may get infected and develop fungus on it, due to which there may be
