Society might have unequal treatments for some people so people should work hard to fight for their rights. In the 1960s of the U.S., African-Americans realized that their rights were denied and they should fight for it. During that time, a lot of Civil Rights movements occurred and forced the government to gain rights to every citizen in the U.S. The Voting Rights Act of 1965 was one of the results of the Civil Rights Movement. It is important because it gained every citizen the right to vote in the U.S. Even though the Voting Rights Act of 1965 encouraged the voting rights of African-Americans and worked well for the U.S. society, some states still tried to undermine the act. Even though slavery was banned after the Civil War, voting rights of African-Americans still not improved in the U.S. Many movements occurred to fight for voting rights and there were many events that led to the passage of Voting Rights Act of 1965. However, President Obama is an example that shows the effort of Voting Rights Act of 1965. Voting Rights Act will make the U.S. better. As Chief Justice Roberts wrote, “Problems remain in these states and others, but there is no denying that, due to the Voting Rights Act, our nation has made great strides” (Liptak). Justice Ginsburg also wrote, “Thanks to the Voting Rights Act, progress once the subject of a dream has been achieved and continues to be made” (Liptak).
