Target’s Mission and Motto
Target is an enormous retail store chain that prides itself on having phenomenal reviews that state, “I love Target.”. Big companies like this usually have a mission statement or a motto to help focus their time and effort. Target’s mission statement as of June 2016 is, "We fulfill the needs and fuel the potential of our guests. Employees are also trained to ask every guest “Can I help you find something?”. This also plays a role is creating a positive environment inside Target.
Examples of Target’s Technology-based Business Processes
From the mission statement and the employee service motto above, one can decipher that anything customer related is very important to Target. Excellent customer service is what Target believes sets them apart from all other retailers. Listed in the textbook, Introduction to Information Systems: Supporting and Transforming Business, are some common examples of business processes a company could perform for many different reasons. The marketing business processes seemed to fit Target’s mission statement more so than the other types of business processes. Some examples of these processes are: managing post-sale customer follow-up, using customer satisfaction surveys, managing customer service, handling customer complaints, handling returned goods from customers, and training sales personnel (Rainer, 35).
