Albino Kittens

Albinism is a surprisingly common birth defect in WAapnettik Inars kittens. It is a recessive gene and can only occur if both parents are carriers of the gene. Kittens born in the wild with albinism do not survive. The biggest reason these kittens do not survive in the wild is that they cannot camouflage themselves properly with an illusion.

An albino Wapnettik Inar is not completely white like one might think, instead it is a pale pink with red marbling. They eyes are also a bright red, which is common in most albinos. Other than not being able to camouflage themselves against predators, the kittens are often abandoned by their mothers and left to die. The only way for these kittens to be saved is by human intervention.

Treatments that are used on mundane felines cannot be used as a Wapnettik Inar’s ears are much more sensitive. The mundane treatments one can find in non-magical shops will make their tufts fall out and cause hearing loss.

In 1922, a wizard named Linus Pratt sought a way to treat the mites in a safer manner than the usual treatment for ear mites. Many Wapnettik Inars had lost most of their hearing due to the usual, harsher treatment. He found that using some lune liquide along with aloe and lavender in a potion helped keep the ointment less caustic and worked very well on the ear mites. He named this new ointment Purple Moon.

To treat the ear mites, first the excess wax and dirt must be washed from the ears. A mild mixture of soap and water should be enough to clean them. After cleaning, the ears must be allowed to dry. Once the ears are dry, Purple Moon must be applied twice a day and the entire interior of the ear must be covered in a thin coating. This process must be repeated for three days in order to rid the ears of the ear mites
