On Thursday, December 1st I attended a Wake Forest Jazz Concert put on by the students in attendance. It was comprised of numerous different artists and pieces that I had previously learned about in my Introduction to Jazz class at Forsyth Tech. This group was personally my favorite. The Old Gold Jazz Crew had a larger group of performers and gave off the feel of a small/mid-sized orchestra. Every song was beautifully composed with almost no flaws detectable. My favorite song of the concert was “I Can’t Stop Loving You” by Don Gibson, played by the Old Gold Jazz Crew. The energy felt from this performance was distinguishable in comparison to all others.
I feel very pleased by this performance put on by Wake Forest. It really put everything I have learned in class into perspective and allowed me to interact more with the concept of Jazz. I have always had an appreciation for Jazz but being able to witness it being performed right in front of me has boosted that appreciation even more. Attending the Wake Forest Jazz Concert was an incredible experience that I am very likely to do
