For example, Wal-Mart is a company that denies health insurance to employees who work less than 30 hours a week. How does Wal-Mart expect employees to pay for their medical bills? This policy unjust! This is unfair to dedicated workers working in Wal-Mart, bussing hard to earn $7.25 an hour. As Wal-Mart companies continue to grow, it drives out many small business. Americans do not know the negative impact Wal-Mart has on America because they are lured by their low prices. This not only drives out small business, but hurts the community as well.

Miniumum wage workers are able to worry less and stress less. Increasing the minimum wage would mean more money per hour. Furthermore, household families are more likely to spend more money. This could help stimulate the economy, creating more jobs for individuals. In fact, a recent study by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago concluded that, following an increase in the minimum wage, spending by households with at least one minimum-wage worker increased by $700 per quarter (Shemkus). Families gain both financial security and an increase ability to purchase goods such as healthy foods. An increase to minimum wage would enable families to purchase healthy foods instead of cheap, unhealthy foods from Burger King and McDonalds. In fact if more low income families eat healthier and consume less foods in high calories, it would decrease the percentage of obesity in America. As well as Obesity being reduced it would reduce stress and hypertension in households. Rents and bills would be paid on time, which will reduce stress. There would be extra money to spend .Families will not have to struggle by saving every penny they earn. Moreover, parents would not have to work longer hours or continue to work their second occupation. They would have more time to stay home with their children and attend their sport games. If more parents spend their free time encouraging their children in their academics, it would not only strengthen their family bond but more students would aim to achieve a higher education. Even though every action comes with consequences, raising the minimum wage may force off employer-sponsored health-insurance plans to employee.
