Walt Disney was a man of accomplishments, he was a man that set goals, and achieved them. Walt was a perfect example of perseverance and endurance. He was a man that met with challenges and conquered them, he was stolen from, conned, and lied to. Walt was born December 5, 1901, in Hermosa, Chicago, Illinois to parents, Elias and Flora Disney. He grew up into a simple life with not much activity and a lot of moving. He proved to the world that anything is possible with faith, trust, and a little bit of pixie dust. Surprisingly, the studio profits began to drop causing Walt to fall into great debt. Hoping for a fresh and profitable new start, he moved his studio to Hollywood, California. With all of Walt’s knowledge of animation, he still experienced major setbacks in his career. Walt created an animated character “Oswald the Lucky Rabbit” to be used in Charlie Mintz’s allanimated series for Universal Pictures. In 1928, during the peak of the Oswald series, Walt traveled to New York seeking an investment from producer Charlie Mintz. To Walt’s disappointment, the deal fell through and Mintz proceeded to take the Oswald series as his own. This setback influenced Walt to keep going even though he was stolen from. This also made Walt realize that not everyone, as friendly as they may seem, can be trusted. During his work in Laugh-O-Gram, he later developed a new character, “Mickey Mouse” based off of a pet mouse he adopted. Iwerks reworked the sketches made by Walt to make the sketches easier to animate.
