Walt Disney Hero

For my hero I picked Walter Elias Disney. Walt lived on a small farm in Illinois when he was a child. As a young boy Walt had a fascination with drawing and he once drew on the side of the barn with tar and his father beat him for it. He loved to draw the farm animals and a specific field mouse which would later inspire him to create the mouse we all love… Mickey Mouse. Later on Walt went to school to take photography and drawing classes at McKinley High School in Chicago. At the age of 16 he dropped out of school to join the army, but they wouldn’t let him because he was too young. So instead he joined the Red Cross and became an ambulance driver in France. They put him in several silent movies, but the movies failed so they made movies with Walt voicing Mickey and it was a huge hit. Eventually Walt would create many shows and characters which included Minnie mouse, Goofy, and Donald Duck along with the shows Zorro and The Three Little Pigs. Walt also created a theme park called Walt Disney Land in Anaheim, California. Eventually he would begin construction on his second theme park Walt Disney world but he died before construction was complete. Walt Disney died in December of 1966 from lung cancer which he had been diagnosed with earlier that year. Walt Disney World opened October 1, 1971. I believe Walt is a hero because even though his father beat him and his brothers he wanted children to be happy. His movies brought so much happiness to children of all ages. Disney Land also brought a lot of happiness to children along with Disney World. In my opinion Walt Disney is a hero because his goal in life was to make other people happy. He made people happy with his movies, shows, and his parks. This is why I chose Walt Disney as my
