Walt Disney: Turning Dreams into Reality The approach Walt Disney took in order to create memorable characters is quite intriguing. He established techniques that were innovative, and his optimism motivated him to achieve things that were never done before. Walt took animation to a higher degree when he created the first-feature length animation film. He found a way to successfully implement the image of personality in the characters he created as well. Walt Disney’s outpour of creativity took the Golden Age of Animation by storm revitalizing the vivacity of cartoon forever. Walt Disney was a visionary artist whose optimism, out-of-the-box thinking and determination allowed him to skyrocket to the top in the world of animation. He launched the process of combining animated and live-action films. Disney’s Alice cartoons provided a perfect demonstration of a live-action character, Alice herself, placed into an animated Wonderland world (Dirks). His character Mickey appeared in the first cartoon with a post-produced synchronized soundtrack including music, dialogue, and sound effects (Dirks). The animated star Mickey, along with his female counterpart Minnie, was redrawn with shoes and white, four fingered glove. The implementation of personality was most evident in his feature-length film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Snow White was portrayed as sweet, gentle, and kind. She was soft-spoken yet energetic and stern. The dwarfs had a slew of different personalities. Happy was joyful and full of laughter while Grumpy seemed to be irritated all the time.
