Walt Disney. You’ve probably heard of him. Born in Chicago on December 5 of 1901 he was a film producer, a magazine magnate, the co-founder of the Walt Disney Company, as well as an iconic figure of Twentieth Century media and entertainment industry. As a child he moved between Marceline in Missouri, Kansas City, and finally he moved back to Chicago. He also became interested in art and took lessons at the Kansas City Institute and the Chicago art Institute. He became his school’s cartoonist in it’s magazine and as an adult he even created his own entertainment company. Now let’s learn a little more about this famous innovator.

Walt set up an entirely new company with Roy. In 1927 the Disney studio was part of the production of the successful ‘Oswald The Lucky Rabbit’. Walt went back to working for himself because Universal Studios owned the rights to ‘Oswald The Lucky Rabbit’ and he couldn’t make profits off of it. He also declined an offer from Universal before he went to work for himself.

He was using some of his iconic cartoon characters to make his company stronger and to build its reputation. Mickey Mouse was one these iconic characters that built his company. Mickey soon became popular with his cartoon and his soundtracks. This was sealing the reputation of Disney Production. It was also was making the company stronger. He used his skills to give the cartoons real life believable characteristics. With his uplifting stories and characteristics of his characters to get to the imagination of the audience.
