When Disney was only 16 years old he dropped out of high school.

But due to his family’s poverty his father had to sell the farm and relocated the family to Kansas City (Nix). Due to several circumstances Walt’s father sold his newspaper route in Kansas and moved to Chicago to work in a jelly and fruit juice company. It is here that Walt dropped out of high school at age 16 because he drew constantly and did not pay attention in class.
With this information, Walt made his own film and showed it to the Newman Theater Company. The manager approved it, and Walt became a celebrity in Kansas City. Soon Walt had his own type of making animations, the "Disney Touch". His first animation demonstrating the "Disney Touch" was Little Red Riding Hood. There is a reason his businesses have continued to flourish, and to this day, have never wavered in their success. Once production was set the people he was working with went behind his back, signed a contract without him and tried taking it from him, (Disney-History). That’s when he decided he was going to create a cartoon named Mickey, where they wouldn 't be able to take it from him. That’s where the cartoons really started to take off. Going through all that hard work and having to recreate something huge created a new path and adventure in his career.
It all started with none other than the mastermind himself, Walt Disney. Not being the brightest businessman and after losing ownership of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, Walt would go on to create Mickey Mouse and realize his visions through creation of many films. Despite being the well realized visionary he is known today, he was still quite reckless with how he spent the money he had earned from these projects. Without help from his brother, Roy Disney, who is credited with helping Walt realize his dreams, Disney wouldn’t become as big as it is today. Especially with the inception of Disneyland, which is what put the company on solid financial footing.
