Walt Elias Disney was a world renowned filmmaker and cartoonist who created famous characters like Mickey Mouse. He was also the creator of Disneyland and Disney World, adventure lands for families and friends to enjoy and make memories. Sadly, Walt Disney died before Disney World was completed, but his influence on his workers pushed them to finish the park. Walt Disney's love of drawing, family, as well as his ambition led him to be an influential creator who still inspires upcoming filmmakers and young children today. Walt Disney had a very typical childhood. Walt’s dad, Elias, lived in Canada and moved to the US during the Gold Rush in California (Gabler). While in Chicago, both Flora and Elias brother’s wife were pregnant at the same time. They came up with the idea that Elias would be name his son after his brother and his brother would name his kid after Elias. That is how Walt Disney got his name. Walt’s family moved to Marceline Missouri and according to Walt’s mom “it was his favorite place to live”(Gabler). Walt’s father became a newspaper delivery man. Walt got the same job and competed with his brother that to see who could make the most money. Everyday, Walt would leave at lunch time at school to do his paper route. He would also do a different route in the early morning and another one at night. When his dad would get sick he would stay home from school and do his paper route. According to Walt’s mom “his favorite Christmas present was a pair of leather boots with metal tips”(Gabler) for his newspaper route in the winter. Unfortunately, one day his father got sick and they had to sell the house which Walt Disney grew up in. Walt had to go to a new school. He brought color to cartoons. He created magical worlds that to this day still bring all countries and races together to have a adventure of a lifetime, and be in harmony. According to one of Walt’s workers, Walt told him that “ he viewed his work more as fun than a job” (Gabler).This is the definition of do what you love and not what you hate. Walt has inspired many people to do what they love. He inspired people to continue his dream. Walt's legacy will live on into future generations, through films, parks, and through the dreams and imagination of children
