Disney Films are a product of hard work and dedication. When Walt Disney was a young boy he suffered through some hardships with his father Elias, his father believed in discipline, and Walt Disney’s escape was drawing and imagining a beautiful world full of happiness, the world where Disney was in control.
Walter Elias was born December 5, 1901, in Chicago, Illinois. He had four siblings Ray, Roy, Herbert, and Ruth. Elias moved the family to Ellis Kansas, where they raised wheat and fattened cattle for market. Walt worked in a railway shop but while he was working there he also learned rudiment of carpentry. “In later life, Disney was to remember the farm as a place of enchantment” (Schickel 48).

Walt was now working for the Kansas City film Ad company. Working in this job field gave Walt the opportunity to try new things such as animation. Since Walt had experience drawing cartoon he used all his knowledge to help him with his work. Due to his early success, he was able to open up his own studio named Laugh- O-Gram. “However, the popularity of his cartoons was not matched by his ability to run a profitable business. After Walt’s first failure he decided to move to Hollywood, California which was known for having the best film industries. He wanted to work in jobs as a director or a producer but it was hard finding jobs so he decided to make animated movies instead. Walt wanted his movies to appear realistic like if they were real life. We call those movies cartoons, “A cartoon is a series of pictures on film. Walt wanted to gain revenge on Mintz and all his competition so he created his first animated film called Steamboat Willie, starring Mickey Mouse with sound. After this film was broadcast Disney became very popular, his next films not only had sound but also had color. “In 1932 he signed an exclusive contract with Technicolor and began producing his Silly Symphony cartoons in color.
