In the story, “Fighter” by Walter Dean Myers, and throughout the story, Billy is fighting himself and life. First off, in beginning of the story it states on page 27, “Billy Gates told his wife that he was just going to the gym to work out. If he’d told her the truth, that he was going to fight again, he knew she would have cried.” I think this shows that Billy is going to fight, but he knows his wife does not want him to fight. But, he knows that he needs to fight, but not necessarily wants to fight.
All in all, I significantly enjoyed this book, Lockdown, by Gordon Smith. This book is by far the most thrilling and horrific book I have ever read. I enjoyed this book so greatly, because of how well Gordon Smith explained certain aspects of his writing with great emotion and detail. Another feature I liked about this book was how intense it was, and how while reading, I was on the edge of my seat and wanting to read more. Also, throughout the book, I enjoyed the characters that take place in this story.
Day of Infamy was written by Walter Lord, an American author. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland son of John Walterhouse Lord. Walter Lord's father died when he was three years old, so he was left with his mother and his sister and then later on his mother died in 1929. He went to Gilman School, which is a private institution in Baltimore. He enjoyed writing for the school newspaper and also participating in track, debate, and theater.
In the book I read SLAM! By Walter Dean Myers at the beginning of the chapter. The dad was mad because Greg has a tutor now and the dad doesn’t think the son need a tutor. Also the dad is mad at Greg because he knows that Greg can do the work but Greg doesn’t make it palatable with his mind he wants to be stubborn and joke off in class and is lazy with his school work. Then when school was over Greg went down to 135th street to talk to Ice Mtisha’s cousin about them being friends again.
Lockdown by Walter Dean Myers is a novel that will keep you on your toes. Inspiration, courageousness, nervousness, and depression are all the emotions you feel while reading Lockdown. A topic based around someone making a mistake and ending up in jail isn’t easy to digest, but when the prisoner is only fourteen it’s unbelievable. While reading this book it was quite obvious Walter Dean Myers arranged a lot of research for this novel, it was written very well and full of facts. Hearing stories of gang violence, drug abuse, and shootings is a big wake up call for anyone who interprets this novel it reallys make you realize how grateful you should be for what you have.

Charles Drew was a pioneer in the preservation and storage of blood for transfusions. In his educational career he was the first African-American to receive a doctorate degree from Columbia University. His thesis was called "Banked Blood" which came from his research with John Scudder during which he developed methods for processing and preserving blood plasma, making it possible to dry it and reconstitute it when needed. He found that the plasma, without the solids in it, could be preserved for a longer time. During World War II Drew ran a project to collect blood for soldiers in Europe called "Blood for Britain".

Their main purpose is to just torture and make Mr. Griffin think he is going to die. The plan takes a tragic turn and results in Mr. Griffin's death. The plan simply falls apart in a domino effect of terror and grief.

Gladwell begins by writing about Maurice’s past and all his accomplishments. Gladwell writes, “ He was an elegant man who dressed in a homburg and Brooks Brothers suits. In the summer, he wore a straw boater.” The imagery and emotionally charged words like, “beautiful”, “prominent”,”vibrant.” and “ fortune” all show the state of wealth Maurice was in.
