LeAnn Rimes is a very successful author, actor, and singer. She is most known for her unique voice in the genres of American country and pop music. LeAnn Rimes’ career started at a young age, proving that she is one of the greatest female country singers ever with her many awards and accomplishments. LeAnn Rimes was born August 28, 1982 to Wilbur and Belinda Rimes, in Jackson, Mississippi. At the young age of two, she began her singing career. At age five, she was already taking vocal and dancing classes. She then moved to Garland, Texas to pursue her singing career, and start her musical theatre career.Rimes began her acting career with the play, A Christmas Carol. The first week, album sold 123,000 copies. This was the most in SoundScan history. It later went on to sell 8 million copies worldwide and 4 million copies in the United States of America. The album also was ranked number one on the Top Country Album and was ranked number three on Billboard 200 album chart. After this LeAnn Rimes continued to make charting songs including, “One Way Ticket (Because I Can)”, “The Cattle Call”, “Hurt Me”, and “The Light in Your Eyes.” Rimes’ single, “One Way Ticket (Because I Can)”, was ranked number one on Billboard Country Chart in 1996. The Grammy was for Best New Artist and Best Female Country Vocal Performance for “Blue.” LeAnn also won the Country Music Association's Best New Artist of the Year. She was the youngest ever to be nominated for a Country Music Association award. ( In 1997, Rimes appeared on Disney Channel in her show, LeAnn Rimes in Concert. Rimes also converted from country music to the genre of pop music. In her pop music career, she remade songs by Prince, Dolly Parton, The Beatles, Whitney Houston, and Debby Boone. Seven years later, Rimes announced that they were getting divorced. The divorce was finalized on June 19, 2010. Their marriage ended because Rimes was alleged to have had an affair with actor, Eddie Cibrian. On April 22, 2010, Rimes and Cibrian got married. ( Rimes has also struggled with autoimmune disease called psoriasis. She supported the PSA to raise awareness for this disease. She also sang for Stand Up for Cancer by the American Association for Cancer Research, raising over $73.6 million. She has also supported many other charities including the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Disabled American Veterans, Save the Children, The Salvation Army, and Grammy Foundation. Although LeAnn Rimes had some rough times during her life, she still turned bad into good by raising money for all of these charities benefitting millions around the world.
