The legal system, a symbol of justice and equality, has failed multiple times to protect and uphold the rights of Indigenous communities, forcing communities to take matters into their own hands. The book "Warrior Girl Unearthed" explores how the legal system fails to respond and tailor to the problems of Indigenous people, resulting in communities taking responsibility for the legal system. The novel addresses the ongoing issues differently through two subjects -- the legal system against the reserve -- in terms of accountability, processes of justice, and healing. The book suggests the importance of Indigenous cultures and traditions, how they are dismissed; specifically about stolen artifacts; resulting in unfair treatment and neglect of Indigenous peoples by the legal system. Shense's father told the police officer that they live outside the jurisdiction of the Tribal police, but the officer did not seem to care. This demonstrates the injustice within the legal system, as the police did not take the case seriously, regardless of the trend. In contrast to the system, the community within the reservation offers support to anyone seeking it, ensuring their voices and experiences are acknowledged. This is shown as soon as Shense went missing, as the community aided in her search. People like Pauline, Perry, residential police, and others helped find Shense, even though Shense did not go missing within the jurisdiction of the Tribal police. This is illustrated when Perry overheard someone saying “What-The was too upset to finish his shift [last night working all day on the missing flyers poster]” due to the missing person case
