Was Brutus truly a diehard patriot or simply a cold-blooded betrayer? Brutus certainly fit the criteria to be a patriot such as pouring his devotion into Rome and stabbing his friend in the back if it meant nothing but the best for what the future held out for Rome.So, yes Brutus seemed to be a patriot. This is what needed to be done or else Rome would have fallen under the dictatorship To dive deeper into the depths, let's begin with how Brutus effortlessly murdered Caesar. Brutus ‘believed’ that in order to keep Rome from falling to bits, that he had to make the hanus decision on whether or not to commit the deed. He tried to keep it minimal by devising a plan to only kill Caesar and keep Marc alive so it wouldn't seem so obvious to the people. “Romans, countrymen, and lovers! Hear me for my cause, and be silent that you may hear: Believe me for my honor and have respect for mine honor that you may believe." Killing someone for the sake of keeping your country alive sounds outrageous however during that time, it was much different. So if it meant taking out one life then a life it is. But to turn the trust that was given to you and to kill them as simple as that makes you wonder if brutus considered caesar a true friend but to spare your friends life and see Rome slowly fall apart is just as bad as well. Was Brutus truly a diehard patriot or simply a cold blooded betrayer? Seemed as if he was, he showed nothing but devotion towards rome, murdered his friend for rome, and tried to convince the people of rome that he was good. And although this isn't something that would pass on to being okay during our time but during theirs this shows nothing but a true patriotic
