Was Eric Garner Justified

Garner died on July 17 , 2014 in Staten Island, New York . He died after a confrontation with the police in which police officer Daniel pantaleo put him on choke hold. Then other officers appeared to slam his head against the side walk. Garner then kept screaming "I can't breathe" repeatedly but pantaleo kept him on choke hold he didn't stop. Garner then "passed out" and was handcuffed. 1 hour later garner was pronounced dead in the hospital. Do you think Eric's death was justified? Everyone has a different opinion on whether it was justified or not. In my opinion it was not justified. I have 3 main reasons for me thinking this. The "punishment" he had to pay was excessive. So excessive it took his life. He could have been let go with a warning or something like that since it wasn't a huge crime. Over all it wasn't a harmful crime. So it shouldn't have had a harmful punishment. My second reason was that the NYPD wasn't even supposed to put anyone in the chokehold. The chokehold is not allowed but Daniel pantaleo (the NYPD police officer who killed Eric garner) used the choke hold. Choke hold or any movement that restricts a person's windpipe have been banned under the NYPD patrol guide since 1993. Therefore he shouldn't have put him under choke hold by law in the first place. Garner was not harming anyone. Yeah he committed a crime but the crime he committed wasn't harming and it wasn't going to harm anyone. If anything he ended up being harmed by the NYPD. Eric's wife Esaw garner said her husband was unable to work Because he suffered from a host of ailments, including chronic asthma, diabetes, and sleep aphea. These were somethings that in a way contributed to garner's death . Other than not being able to breathe. He repeatedly screamed "I can't breathe"
