Was Gertrude involved with Claudius, the current king of Denmark, and his plot to kill the former king/husband? (Hamlet's father). It is definitely a very good possibility considering how quickly Queen Gertrude hurried and married Hamlet’s uncle, who is now the current king of denmark. Things could have happened in so many different ways that it just was not told during the story, so could gertrude been apart of the kings plot? Yes she could have been part of his plan to murder her own husband who is also the father of Hamlet. Hamlet was convinced that gertrude and committed a sin by covering up the evil deed that was committed by Claudius, because Hamlet thinks that his own mother may be part of the death of his father, that alone could have planted some kind of thought into reader's mind that maybe Gertrude was part of it. But in the story it appears that gertrude may be playing both sides of the story, It seems that she does love Claudius in some sort of way so as his queen she tries to remain loyal to him revealing to him that it was Hamlet himself that killed polonius, Polonius who is the father of Laertes and the woman Hamlet claimed to love Ophelia. After Hamlet has killed Polonius, Gertrude tries to protect Hamlet from Claudius by telling him that “Hamlet weeps for what is done" when clearly he does not care about what he has done. Now back to the question, Could Gertrude have been part of Claudius plot to murder the king?
