Was John Brown a misguided fanatic? or is he the hero that the North sees him as? John Brown was a misguided fanatic because he felt that the only way to end slavery is by force. To explain this, Brown attacked the federal arsenal in Harper's Ferry in Virginia. But, Brown's plans had failed, two of his sons have died, and was sentenced to death. Brown also did not care if he died and wishes to join his sons and the millions of other slaves. To support this, in Document A Brown states ¨Now if it is deemed necessary that I should forfeit my life to further end the end of justice, and mingle my blood further with the blood of my children and with the blood of millions in this slave country whose rights are disregarded by wicked, cruel, and unjust
