When he is about to become king, it says, “...they kneeled at once, both rich and poor, and cried Arthur mercy because they had delayed him so long, and Arthur forgave them...” (Malory, Book I, Chapter VII) They tried to delay him being made king because they did not believe that he was the rightful king. But he forgave them. He was also a great leader, and a great warrior, too.
Arthur was molded by Merlyn’s philosophies because he experienced them all personally growing up, thus he tries his best to follow them. William was a good king. I strongly believe that William was a good king, mainly because he had won many wars for his nation and had given them pride and land to live,work on and rule. Even though that he had raised the taxes really often it was for a good cause, like buy metals and other building material for military purposes or just for building houses for the serfs and their landowners. William was in his time,winning all his wars and bring fame upon his name. He was a good leader and protector for his people because all the invasions that were held in his domain he had successfully held them of and won.

Arthur was oblivious that the sword was special when he pulled it out, and that many knights had tried, but failed. Obviously he was meant by god to be the King of Britain, and he had something special about him.
