On June 14, 1947, a rancher by the name of W.W. “Mac” Brazel found wreckage on his large property just 75-80 miles north of Roswell, New Mexico. Due to the amount of sightings and claims of “flying discs” and “flying saucers” that had made an appearance globally, Brazels first thought was that it was the scraps of a flying saucer. Brazel then collected the scraps, and took some of the material to the Roswell Sheriff, who in seeking answers went to a commanding officer of the Roswell Army Air Field (RAAF). Nonetheless, the government could not tell the public the truth behind the Roswell incident because it could risk a secret operation and the project the government was working on. Though many people believed the Roswell incident was extraterrestrial involved due to the amount of sightings claimed in the year, the actual piece of scraps found being part of a project by the government, and the government covering up a private project causing later confusion within the public all can show that the Roswell incident was not extraterrestrial involved ever. The amount of sightings that had been claimed that year counted up to about 300. With that amount of claimed sightings globally, the world began to believe in such things as extraterrestrials and flying saucers.
