Thomas Becket was famous for what? He was a friend of King Henry VIII. Henry saw Becket had many talents, so they became friends. When the archbishop died, Henry saw a chance to give his friend a good position. Henry started to use Becket as an enforcer, but Becket did not like that. Becket wasn’t Henry’s best of best friends, they were just had many things in common. Thomas Becket was made archbishop after one died; he became a rebel against Henry, and was a brave warrior.
Thomas Becket was promoted as an archbishop when an earlier archbishop died. King Henry VIII wanted his friend to be happy in that position. Becket was happy with this position and everyone liked him. Becket was smart and nice. He treated everyone with no cruelty. Henry was telling how bad Becket was and that he was a traitor. Everyone still trusted Becket and ignored Henry. Henry was very mad at Becket. Becket did not want a war with Henry, but he did not want to be cruel. Henry was furious and was talking about Becket when four of his knights mistakenly thought Henry wanted Becket dead. On December 29, 1170, the four knights went to the Canterbury Cathedral and killed Becket (Thomas Becket History Learning Site, 2014). Becket was on the floor when people came in the morning. They made a shrine for him later at the spot.

Thomas Becket was a brave man. He had many talents and was smart. Becket was an example of a good leader. He and Henry were good friends and they had a lot in common.
