Lara Jeans life was rather plain and boring. Her mother died when she was younger and her older sister became like a mother. Near the beginning of the book Lara Jean’s sister, Margot, left for college in Europe. Lara Jean had to step up and help her younger sister Kitty and her father. Before Margot left, she broke up with her boyfriend. Josh, Margots boyfriend was originally best friends with Lara Jean and she had a crush on him. One day she found out her sister liked him and he liked her sister too. Lara jean was heart broken so she wrote him a letter about all her thoughts about how she loved him. She put the letter in a box and forgot she ever had feelings for him. Josh was their next door neighbor and he would give Lara jean a ride to school because she hated driving. the song is talking about how he wasn't expecting the girl to be the love of his life and that she liked him and the they kissed and hold hand and he wasn't expecting that. In the book Lara Jean never went to parties but when she and peter started dating, he made her because he was super social. That being said, the next song that comes to mind is Hold my hand by Jess Glynne. The opening words are “Standing in a crowded room and I can’t see your face. Put your arms around me and tell me everything is ok.” Lara Jean wanted Peter to be with her at all times at the party because she didn't want to be alone and she felt safe with him. The last song i would choose would be Cool Kids by Echosmith. A common theme throughout the book is popularity. Peter is the most popular guy in school and Lara Jean is not really that popular. Lara Jean always feel out of place when she is with Peter and his friends. Cool kids is talking about teens who do not really fit in and feel like that are not cool.
