Wassily Kandinsky

Wassily was a russian painter born on December 16 1866. He is known for his modern art style. He was one of the first to make modern art. He used art therapy to paint and express himself through his paintings. Which made his paintings more meaningful. Let's start off with the beginning of his life when and where he was born.

Wassily was born on December 16th 1866 in Moscow. He was born into a family of business with a good environment. When Wassily was still little his parents moved to Odessa in which his father ran the tea factory. As a child he went to a grammar school and also learned to play the piano and cello along side he learned to draw from a coach. He attended Moscow University for Law. He graduated with honors. 6 years later he married his cousin Anna Chimyakin. 1893 is when he got a job as Associate Professor of a Law Facility and continued teaching. After a while of teaching he was appointed Professor to the Department of Law. Even after all his success he quit his job to procure being a full time painter. After that 2 big things happened. In 1895 he visited the French Impressionists in Moscow and he experienced emotional shocked from K. Monet’s, “Haystacks.” Along with an impression of Rihard Wagner’s “Lohengrin.”

In 1896 he left for Munich to go to what they called then the centers of Europe’s art (A private painting school). Its is there where he learned image composition in work with line and form. Though soon enough the school unsatisfied is needs for painting. In 1900 after he left the that other private painting school he moved schools to Munich Academy of Arts were he then studied under Franz Stuck. The mentor was happy with his student yet he considered Kandinsky’s palette way to colorful.
