1. Living in the United States, there is no doubt that pollution is a main issue that every individual witnesses every single day. Since I attend college in a major city, pollution is something that I have witnessed first-hand. However in the United States, although air, water and odor pollution are very common, another type of pollution has incrementally increased and plagued the environment. Waste pollution is an issue that has raised a lot of concern. Living in an area where manufacturing is common, the effect of waste pollution is definitely ostentatious in the environment. 2. A. Badke does not think that the motive of doing research is to find background information and general data, but instead to find information on an issue or controversy regarding the general topic. Moreover, he also believes that a solution to the issue should be researched.
B. Badke believes that inadequate research is that which is very general and does not address a specific analytical research question. Moreover, while conducting inadequate research the researcher believes his/her main goal is to merely gather information.
C. This research assignment is not directed towards finding general information about the topic, but to answer specific questions. I am researching waste pollution, but not general information. Instead I will be researching specific solutions that can be developed in order to eradicate pollution. These solutions will deal with the social and technological aspect.

Harrington discusses the steps that states are taking in order to curb waste pollution in the environment. Moreover, she also discusses the P2 system that officials have developed in order to initiate this movement. P2 are pollution prevention technologies. Besides technological solutions, policies have also been developed. Harrington discusses the three types of policies that have been developed: regulatory, information and management-based. Although, Harrington believes that this is a very effective system, there are some issues that have arisen. There is a fluctuation in the amount of participation each state contributes. In states, that require these policies to be followed strictly the system is more effective. Harrington believes that this policy based system should be implemented with another method that will promote the idea of curbing pollution. I will use this source to trace the steps that the government has already taken and how this method can be
