An Analysis of Water Quality in Canada

Water is one of the most dependable resources all over the world, and living organisms depend on it each and every day. The acidity or base levels of water is important for consumption. Most importantly, we use water for drinking, and rely on the cleanliness of it.
Let’s start with where most of our water comes from, the Great Lakes. The Great Lakes supply water to over 23 million people that reside in Canada. It is used for farming, recreation, drinking water, etc. In our lakes, we have control of 29 dangerous pollutants, which are filtered out with proper treatment. Mercury, one of the pollutants are found in our lakes, it is toxic and effects are potentially fatal. When submerged in water, mercury becomes methylmercury and can cause brain issues, such as reduced IQ, and the damage is irreversible. Mercury is dangerous, and you might be wondering how exactly water is filtered. Well sewage water, for example is first cleared of all its large debris, by a grate with many small holes to let the water through, but keep debris out.
