Abby Hoffman is a former elite Canadian track and field athlete. Abby, her real name Abigail is Jewish and was born in Toronto in 1947. During her childhood, she learned to skate when she was only 3 and showed her interest in playing hockey when she was 9 years old (Abby Hoffman, 2017). Her inspiration of playing sports was watching her elder brothers, Paul and Muni who were Hockey players. Going back to the early times, Women have been a part of hockey and their popularity led to the creation of Ladies Ontario Hockey Association in the early 1920 forming teams like Aura Lee, North Toronto.
Cam Newton Cam Newton is a football quarterback for the Carolina Panthers in the National Football League. He attended The University of Florida, Blinn College, and Auburn University for college. He has won many awards so far in his career, as a passer and a runner. He won the Heisman Trophy in college at Auburn and also won a National Championship while in college. He has broken four NFL rookie records, and has also broken 44 NFL player records.

Jordin Tootoo is recognized nationwide as an idol due to his perseverance through all of the of the horrible and difficult circumstances that he was faced with. Tootoo’s challenges are a great example of the quote by Albert Einstein, this is because he continues to find the opportunity in difficult situations that he is faced with. When his brother tragically passed, Jordin was thrown into a traumatizing situation that largely affected his life. Due to his brother’s passing, Tootoo started abusing alcohol, which ultimately led him through a dark path which he overcame by participating in the Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health Program.
He left his Parry Sound home at the age of 14 when he was granted exceptional status as an underage player in the OHL. He would eventually attain captaincy of his team, the Oshawa Generals. Now, think about that; being the captain of an OHL team, when you are younger than most of your teammates. That was only the beginning of his journey. As a result hockey became an escape for Saul, something so pure that helped Saul cope with the nightmare his life became.
Herb Brooks was an American Ice Hockey player and coach. Although he was a great player, people will always remember him for his coaching style. Herb Brooks was an incredible leader; he saw in his teams what many could not see. In the 1980 Winter Olympics, Herb Brooks put together a team of college kids to take on the best hockey team in the world, The Soviet Union. This dramatic win was dubbed the “Miracle on Ice” and is still remembered as one of the greatest moments in sports history.
Tom Brady played for Michigan in college where he had the role of the quarterback. He entered the draft combined in 2000, and was the 199 pick in the second round. Initially he served as a backup quarterback and played in only one game during his first season, but the 2001 season was a different story. After starting quarterback Drew Bledsoe was injured, Brady took over, proving himself a strong leader with a powerful arm. That season Brady led the Patriots victory in Super Bowl XXXVIII over the Rams.

Not only did he play a hero as Superman, he truly became one in his personal life. After becoming a quadriplegic Reeve became a spokesperson for people with spinal cord injuries. A hero is a person one admires because of the qualities and selfless actions they exemplify to overcome adversity and inspire others. Heroism is apparent in literature, history, and in our own life.
