It is an honor to accept this award. I would like to thank Dr. Stroble, Dr. Shuster and the alumni leadership team for their continued support for the Alumni Association both here and abroad. I would also like to thank my husband, Mike, that is here with me tonight. He was a true advocate for me while I was pursuing my education goals and he continues to serve as a volunteer for Webster University. I thank you.
My experience with Webster University began in 2001 as I made the decision to pursue a Master of Arts in Computer Resources and Information Management degree. At that time, the local campus was located in Jeffersonville, Indiana. John Feiock was our campus executive and John loved Webster University. He was so passionate about Webster University and shared that every chance he could. I had some fabulous instructors. They were very knowledgeable and well versed in working with adult learners. They were all still working in the industry so they could share their real-life experiences which was invaluable. I worked hard to earn the grades. I have worked in healthcare for over 35 years with 25 of those years in Information Technology. Once I earned my master’s degree in 2003, I was offered an adjunct teaching position at Ivy Tech Community College in Indiana. That was my introduction to academia. With an associate degree in Computer Programming, bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts, master’s degree in Computer Resources and Information Management, I now had the tools in my tool-belt to move forward.
