Students’ success is heavily influenced by this connection, and as a teacher it is my job to promote parent involvement in their student’s schooling. One way that I currently do that is through Class DoJo, which is an online program that helps create a positive community between teachers, students, and parents. When using Class DoJo students are rewarded points for demonstrating positive behaviors, values, and skills in the classroom. It also gives students and teachers a platform where they can share classwork with parents through videos and pictures. Parents and teachers can communicate through private messaging which can be translated through the website. Another event that I currently host in my classroom, to encourage parent involvement, is writing celebrations at the end of each unit. Students make invitations for their parents, we create signs for the outside of our classroom, and they take turns reading their finished pieces out loud. This has been very successful in the past years and provides parents with an opportunity to see their student’s completed
