What do you think was the best decision during The Westward Expansion? You might have said The Louisiana Purchase or The Lewis and Clark expedition or even the Acquisition of Texas. All these options are good but, The Gold Rush was definitely more beneficial and greater than these options. On many articles this was stated about the Louisiana Purchase,” While such a significant acquisition of land was an advantageous move for the United States, the purchase produced some problems and complications.” One of these problems was,” The Louisiana Territory rekindled the smoldering debate over slavery in the United States.”
Westward Expansion: Impact of Natives Thesis Statement: Due to the taking of land and resources, Americans treated the Natives negatively during the Westward Expansion When watching the recent movie ‘The Revenant’, audiences wonder what the message of the story or the theme. Setting up in the 18th century it follows a man (Hugh Glass) that was helping the Americans collect game in exchange for money. He was taken in because he knows the language and land of the Native Americans, due to his wife and child being part of the culture of Indians. Natives were killed for defending their land and keeping the White men from claiming it. The movie also shows the violence directed toward the Native Americans such as the rape of the women.
Traveling thousands of miles through dangerous paths American pioneers took on hardships as they sought westward in hopes of a better life. The journey westward began in the early 1800s when the US exploded with new territories nearly tripling the United States' size. It all started in 1803 when the US bought the Louisiana Territory from France. Quickly, many farmers picked up their belongings and headed out west to the rich, fertile land for a fresh start. Next, Andrew Jackson invaded Florida claiming it for the US which was also another opportunity for settlers to begin a new life.
Based on the text by Robert Morgan, I do not agree with Morgan’s central idea. Mogan is telling us westward expansion is a good thing. I do not agree that westward expansion is a good thing. Morgan believes westward expansion was made up by us, the people, and he thinks the government just followed along, but he is nowhere near right. The government brought about the westward expansion and Thomas Jefferson made it happen.

The Civil War was the result of the built up conflict in the nation, the nation was first assembled under a unified ideal, that every US citizen has the right to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Our nation's westward expansion took place in 1787 to 1861. The westward expansion led to economic, cultural and political differences from the North, South and West that would later divide the nation. An economy defines how a region of land prospers as one and grows. The people in the North and South had a different way of using their resources and people.

The Westward Expansion all started when America made the Louisiana Purchase of 1803. There were many benefits from the purchase for the US that the French didn’t realize before they sold it. The purchase gave the US access to the Mississippi river which allowed for expansion of river trade to the North and South from the center of the US. The port city of New Orleans was bought by the US and its prosperity benefited the US greatly. The US sent Lewis and Clark west to investigate the land they purchased.
The government felt westward expansion was a good thing for the united states because it grew the size of it. Laws were passed and purchases were made to start expanding the united states in size. The only problem was they needed people to move out west too start settling it.the government got people to do so by promising land amongst the native americans. This promise was more than just a promise moving out west was a land of endless opportunities though people could settle west and strike it rich in the gold industry. They could also get away from karupt areas and start over in this land with their families.
For some, it was destiny to move west. Although there were many conflicts and disagreements between ourselves and others, it was destiny to move west because of overpopulation, new inventions of transportation methods, and new opportunities. In the 19th Century, overpopulation was one of the major reasons for Westward Expansion. Immigrants were flooding into America for new opportunities and new ways of life and there was just not enough land to suffice the needs for all of the people. These immigrants were arriving in America in the port cities on the East Coast.
