The Squid and the Whale is a 2005 American arthouse comedy-drama film written and directed by Noah Baumbach and produced by Wes Anderson. It is pictured on the famous “sperm whale and giant squid”, in the American museum of natural history. The plot of this movie is based on the chemistry between the sperm whale and the giant squid. Before going to the chemistry of the whale and the squid, lets first see what has happened in the movie.

The movie features a disturbed family of the mid 1980’s, which seemed perfect on others face. There is a couple married for seventeen years. Where, Bernard, the man claims to be a novelist whose career has gone down as he spends most time teaching than writing. It is a crucial stage in the developmental path of both the children, where they need a very strong support and understanding from their parents. But the parents decide to take divorce and separate. The children are owned by both of them as they take a joint custody for the children and decide to divide the week equally, so that the children can spend good amount of time with both the parents. But, the boys don’t like it much as they start taking sides with one parent more than the other and start living with that one parent irrespective of the weeks’ scheduling.
