The Killer Whales should be in small tanks, if an animal in captivity then is should have space to roam around and run. Parents should be able to take their kids to zoos and see healthy animals behaving
In the book, Grendel many theories were introduced. These theories were introduced because of the author, John Gardner, who wanted to go through the main ideas of Western Civilization and because Gardner wanted to relate the book to faith and reason. The theories that Gardner introduced were existentialism, nihilism, anarchy, and modernism. Although the theory that was constantly used by many of the characters was nihilism. Nihilism is a theory that moral principles and beliefs are meaningless and that life is useless and meaningless.
Bridgette Pirtle, a former SeaWorld trainer, mentioned in her interview with National Geographic, that the park tends to focus their resources on other things, such as renovating a play center for kids (Lee). The article, “Former SeaWorld Trainer: Stop Using Killer Whales for Entertainment”, observes, that SeaWorld tends to be neglectful when it comes to the facilities that are needed for the whales. In Pirtle’s opinion, orca whale should no longer be used for entertainment purposes (Lee). Many others agree with Pirtle’s opinion. Whales are not meant to be kept in captivity for the purpose of entertainment.
Furthermore, this can be the cause of all the incidence including to what happened to Dawn Brancheau who was completely mutilated by a whale. Despite the interview with a former trainer, from a document which was published after the release of Blackfish by SeaWorld to object
The grey whale population in 2001 was about 26,000, although this is the highest it’s ever been, is it a valid reason for them to be hunted? Animal activist groups think the hunting of grey whales is inhuman. Whereas the Makah, a tribe who hunt whales, believes it is part of their culture. This is the root of all conflict, multiple groups with opposing opinions. Some of the reasons this conflict arose is because of whale population, treaty rights, and most importantly the break the Makah took from whaling.
But if a human goes near them they might want to eat the human because they get angry if they think that the humans are trying to charter them and put them back in a small trunk where they can not swim freely. By, Eliana Shapiro Questions Why do they capture whales just for shows? Do they capture them as babies or adults How would you feel if you got taken from your family…
When killer whales were first captured the capturers tossed bombs to herd the whales. They were only looking for the babies, since they were easier to ship. The mother killer whales were “crying” for their babies when they were captured. If the wild there is no record of a killer whale doing any harm to humans. Killer whales use their own type of language to communicate in the
There is only few chances to turn the effort into a success even though we risk our lives. The amount of whaling catches led to be a major political impact on Hawaii Island which was a lot of exhaustment for us. This affected Hawaii’s government, because they needed to find a new trading system in order to make the profit for the island. This may become a panic for the Hawaiians too. Also the drop of whaling industry decreased the earnings for us.
The only whales that should be kept in captivity are injured whales; whales that would never make it on their own. There are some rare instances when they need humans to survive. “Springer was an immature and sickly killer whale who lost her pod in 2002 and began to associate with humans in Puget Sound near Vancouver” (“What to do about a killer whale”). Springer was “nursed back to health and returned to the wild quickly” (“What to do about a killer whale”). If a whale needs help, then humans should do everything they can to get them healthy again and nothing more.
What Whale Poaching Really is By: Logan B I believe whale poaching should be outlawed around the world. Bans have warned people to stop hunting the whales but still over 2,000 whales are killed each year. In 1958, thirty eight thousand whales were killed since then, the amount of whales killed has dropped to thirty six thousand whales from that time.
I’ve seen countless twitter posts, news articles, the movie Blackfish, and even heard fellow classmates talking about the controversial issue in our society. The thing that sticks out most to myself and the public is the alarming number of Killer whale deaths there has been at SeaWorld facilities all around. The most ironic thing about all these deaths? None of them were from old age. In the movie Blackfish, it uses the most recent Killer whale park death (Dawn Brancheau, 2010), and from there goes into detail about everything wrong with these parks.
Whales in the wild live old and healthy to about the age of 30 - 60. In captivity, whales have a slim chance of that. Whales in captivity live 3 to 15 years. Clearly this is not right. I think whales in captivity should be banned.
Since keeping whales in captivity is dangerous we should not be breeding
Do you think this is necessary? Do you think nature advocates such as the International Whaling Commission should allow this? Why or why
The Norwegian and Japanese positions and arguments to be permitted with the hunting of non-endangered species of whales as a cultural exemption should not be considered. According to the Whale and Dolphin Conservation, “the whaling industry is in decline and the demand for meat is falling” (WDC, n.d.). Given this statement, I would support the ban of whaling worldwide. In addition, it would be difficult and costly to monitor the whaling activity that is taking place in waters where whales frequent.
