Catherine was an excellent horsewoman, greatly skilled in riding horseback. In addition to her equestrian talents, she was also very familiar with the
“ This shows that Samuel is aggressive because he wants to see other people hurt. Later in the book it shows that Samuel is aggressive when Samuel and Richard were fighting and the author states“ His cheeks are swollen and one of his eyes is turning purple. I am proud of my handiwork” Sameral is aggressive because he doesn 't like when people annoy himself or tease him. All he does to solve it is to use his fists. A while later in the book, it shows that Samuel is aggressive when he and Richard were in the middle of a disagreement and the author wrote “ I glare at him silently as he turns
Character trait: One trait that the protagonist displays is ‘frustration’, an example from the short story would be: “It was not deep, he wetted himself halfway to the knees” The chechaquo was planning on arriving at the camp on time for the boys at 6:00, he had it all planned out, but when he stepped into the frozen river and wetted his feet, that would mean he would have to build a new fire and wait until his feet were dry and safe to walk with, that would take a lot of time and make him late to the camp. He ‘cursed’ out loud to himself after that, which clearly says that he is indeed frustrated.
2. Sammy’s judgments are accurate for his character. As a young boy, his judgment of the girls being attractive and catching his
Catherine’s unwrinkled face represents her stance in society which is not hindered because of her obesity. Even with her old age, she looks youthful and is regarded as so. Being the “matriarch”(11) of the family
Topic: Discuss Elizabeth’s relationship with those she is leaving behind. Humans in a complex society connect to one another for a wide range of intentions. The practice often mock their senses and the significance of the relationships are most real when they separate. In “The Uprooting” by Dorothy Livesay, Elizabeth’s relationship with her friends, her Granny, and Aunt Maudie is show when she is moving from Winnipeg to Toronto. First, Elizabeth barely has connections with her Granny in England.
In Langston Hughs’ short story “ Thank You M’am” hughs uses indirect characterization to analyze Mrs. Jones character. Appearance can make a reader judge a character, and get an understanding of their personality. For example, when the reader sees the line, “ she was a large women. With a large purse with everything except a hammer and nails” (120). The reader can come up with some sort of judgement like, because she is a large woman she is probably not one to mess with.
She is also very sensitive because she get angry and sad really quickly. When Jason’s mother yelled at her, she said she had to use all of her strength to not cry. If a strong person was in her position I believe this person would not even be close to crying. All in all, I think that Catherine was a great character made by Cynthia Lord. I hope to see more of these type of stories from Cynthia Lord.
“I’m sorry m’dear. Boudreaux and I were talking about old times and I simply forgot myself - we should not speak of such things in front of you.” “You were just speaking plenty on the Baroness and her misadventures, now you want to worry of my delicate ears- please, tell me of this ‘pleasure palace’,” I implored. “Is it a house of ill-repute?” I asked bluntly, looking first to one then the other.
Describing Anne Sexton is no easy task but the word madwoman keep coming to mind. It’s essential to define what a madwomen means to have a better understanding of what it represents. The Cambridge dictionary defines madwoman as “a woman who behaves in a very strange and uncontrolled or dangerous way”. Anne Sexton perhaps is a madwoman but with her personal struggles in life comes beauty and depth to her poetry or as Charles Bukowski once said “She is mad but she is magic there is no lie in here fire”. Sophie Heawood also adds a different perspective to how we may mistake a women’s madness in “The older I get, the more I see how women are described as having gone mad, when what they have actually become is knowledgeable and powerful”.
Quite the contrary, she had been told many times by her late husband that she was a beautiful queen and her curves
In Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, Lady Catherine’s appearance, speech and actions reveal her supercilious behaviour and domineering personality. She is described as a “tall, large women, with strongly marked features,” whose “air was not conciliating.” Lady Catherine’s tall stature causes her to treat others in a condescending manner. Her striking appearance promotes her intimidating persona, instantly causing her peers to feel uneasy. When Lady Catherine begins to interrogate Elizabeth with invasive, personal questions, Elizabeth reveals that she can play the piano and sing.
Clothing: She wore a pleated headdress, an elegant cloak, a rosary decorated with green beads, and a shining gold broach that consisted of a capitalized “A” with a crown above it and a Latin motto meaning “Love conquers all.” Physical Attributes: She had a handsome nose, eyes as grey as glass, a small and soft red mouth, a fair and broad forehead, a modest smile, and is well nourished and physically developed since she is “not undergrow” (Chaucer, 156). Proper Role: As a nun, the Prioress

She was fair haired, smart, charming, and cruel.
