Write a paragraph explaining how the content aligned or did not align with your expectation of what you would learn in a dance lesson. This session confirmed my expectations of what a child would learn in a dance session. I would imagine that the arts sessions (dance, visual arts, drama, or music) should give children the opportunity to explore and expand their imagination and, therefore, creativity, using different tools, such as: rhythmic movement, paint or crayon, musical instruments, or acting, for searching and expressing their individuality. A dance lesson offers the possibility to learn through action and reflection: thinking - creating - performing - appreciating, and not imitating to perfection choreographed dancing. Step-by-step instructions and lack of music at the beginning helped reduce the anxiety level, focus on the task, not on the result. The starting point (waves) is well known, the use of pictures helped visualizing a wider variety of ocean moves.
