ABSTRACT
This is an essay portraying one of the modern composers of current times. Not only was he a composer but he was a conductor, arranger, educator, songwriter, pianist, TV/radio host, and an author. He wore many hat throughout his career. What were his early influences? What first inspired him? He studied and worked with some distinguishable people while studying and working in his field. How did he become and overnight success? By chance or by faith? He was nominated and won several awards thorough his career for some of his works. Which were some of his greatest accomplishments in his career? What were some of his personal choices that made him frowned upon during certain times in his life? Who were some of his biggest influences throughout his career? Who were his mentors? Who did he influence the most in his career? What were his best known works? How did he impact others?

This included a nomination for Best Music, Scoring of a Dramatic or Comedy Picture for On the Waterfront (1954) for an Academy Award. He was collected several Primetime Emmy Awards. He was nominated for about twelve and won more than half of them. Bernstein was nominated for a several Grammys; Best Album for Children, Best Orchestral Performance, Best Choral Performance, Best Opera Recording, Best Classical Vocal Performance, Best Classical Album, Best Spoken Word Album, and he received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1985. He was in the Grammy Hall of Fame. In 1980 Bernstein was honored at the Kennedy Honors. He also won a Tony Award for Best Original Score for Wonderful Town (1953).
