Physical activity is an opportunity for people to develop habits for a healthier lifestyle and function with awareness throughout the day. If children start receiving the required amount of exercise at a young age along with healthy eating habits, it can strengthen individual mentality and physic of children can prolong into later in life. Athletics can be an opportunity to create abilities to mature into adults only if it starts at a young age. High school sports as well as other physical activity, can develop life skills, increase educational involvement, and improve the overall health of adolescences.

According to the National Center for Education Statistics, children who play in high school sports are more likely to be academically successful. The social benefits can also lead to academic benefits. When teams are performing better, that success can also lead to the classroom. It makes students have a mindset that should do better in another subject in school (“Global Sports”). A University of Kansas study looking at the performance of students in the grades 9 to 12 showed that more than 97 percent of student athletes graduate high school, 10 percent higher than those students who have not participated in sports. Athletes are also shown to have better GPA outcomes, than non-athletes (“Maslen”). Students who participate in high school sports are 15 percent more likely to attend college (“At Your Own Risk”). High School sports show students the importance of hard work and dedication which can lead to a better work ethic in the classroom.
