The American Revolution was an important war that let the United States of America gain their independence. Our victory influenced different movements around the world one being the French Revolution. Without the revolution our basic rights would be different. The Magna Carta was created to limit the power of the English monarch. Monarchs were required to follow the rules established. It gave everyone the right to a fair trial. From it the parliament also evolved. When James the second was overthrown in 1689, the new monarchs ratified an English Bill of Rights. This gave the colonists new freedoms. No one could be imprisoned without being charged with a crime first head. Parliament passed a series of trade laws to regulate colonial commerce. The Navigation Acts states that only English ships with English sailors can trade with the English colonies. This stimulated dramatic growth in the English commercial activities. In the seventeenth and eighteenth century the enlightenment developed. It critiqued traditional ways of thinking about science, religion, and government. The Indians wanted to maintain equilibrium between the two, since they benefit from the balance of power. To gain their alliance they would both gift the Indians. George Washington leading the British to evict the French helped spark the French and Indian war. As the war went on a lot of Indians deserted the French for the British. The treaty of Paris ended the French and Indian war. Pontiac’s rebellion ended when the Indian nations made peace with the British. The proclamation of 1763 mandated that settlers were to stay east of the Appalachian mountains. Like all the other white people of that era they wanted more and went to the other side of the mountains. In 1754 Benjamin Franklin proposed the Albany plan of union. It called for all the colonies to unite under British rule. But none of the colonies
