Sherlock Holmes is a 2009 crime and mystery movie directed by Guy Ritchie, based on the characters created in the book series by Arthur Conan Doyle. This trailer explores the concepts of the crime and mystery genre through the use of conventions such as suspense, good vs evil, and intelligence over force. Guy Ritchie also uses techniques like mise en scene, film techniques, setting, characterisation, sound and lighting. When a sequence of murders threaten the streets of London, Sherlock Holmes, played by Robert Downey Jr., is forced to race against the clock with his faithful partner John Watson, played by Jude law, in order to stop the city from destruction. Although the movie is presented as a crime and mystery film, the trailer depicts the film to have an action and thriller component to it as well resulting in a wider target audience range.
